Snow in Swampscott, Massachusetts

birdfeeder in snow 4We’ve had an enormous amount of snow here in coastal Massachusetts since the last week in January. I can’t really measure because the wind has made the snow drift in places. No place is bare but in my backyard I have a mound that is easily 7 or 8 feet tall. It is near my birdfeeder. The back door where I have access to the yard is frozen shut with a huge mound of snow against. I feel so sorry for the birds since I cannot get outside to fill the feeder. They say we have had 7 feet of snow all in one month with no melting. I’ve lived here most of my life and I have never seen anything like this. I feel grateful that I am able to stay inside during the blizzards and because they forecast the storms ahead of time I was able to get the food I needed to weather the storms. It has been a long difficult winter and now we are having frigid below zero weather.
